'Canelo' Alvarez dominates Chavez Jr., Golovkin next up

Frederick Owens | 17 May, 2017, 13:24

Immediately after the obligatory drubbing was dispensed, Alvarez and middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin of Russian announced that their mega-fight would happen September 16, 2017, the Mexican Independence Day holiday.

- 120-108 on all three scorecards - in their bitter Mexican rivalry fight on Saturday night before a sold-out crowd of 20,501 at T-Mobile Arena.

He dominated to win every round, landing 228 punches to just 71 for Chavez, who was booed at times.

'I knew Canelo was going to beat Chavez easy, and I thought he was going to get up there after what he did a year ago and make another scene, say something like, 'I did this to Chavez, and I'll do the same thing to you, Triple-G'.

Alvarez (48-1-1), who is the current Ring champion, will be meeting Golovkin for the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and IBO middleweight titles.

"GGG-you are next my friend", said Canelo. The fight is done.

He said Canelo has more experience at big fights, and that while Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. comes from "a fighting family", Mayweather said he does not have as much experience with big fights. "When I was born, fear was gone".

If anyone attempts to interfere with or block the investigation, Schumer said, "you need somebody who is going to stand up". Changing rationales for the firing offered by White House aides added an element of chaos to the president's action.

The Mexican showed that his youth - 26, he is nine years younger than Triple G - and speed will be a real concern for Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs). I think it's gonna be a great fight. But Canelo looked to be in spectacular shape during tonight's catch-weight bout of 164.5 pounds.

"First, I consider myself a person of strong mental strength, and I knew I had to focus".

Golovkin, who has yet to reach the pay-per-view plateau established by Alvarez, finally will have the opponent that should lift the native of Kazakhstan's crossover acceptance.

"Luck is for the mediocre", replied Alvarez.

While the bout was extremely uncompetitive and below expectations, what occurred afterwards made up for it as Golovkin's entrance music hit as he approached the ring to announce their upcoming fight.

Alvarez, on the other hand, besides losing to Mayweather, defeated Erislandy Lara, James Kirkland, Austin Trout and other very good fighters at Junior Middleweight.

Against Chavez, Alvarez's work rate never dipped as he landed clean shots from start to finish with his right hand - thrown at blistering speed - one of his most unsafe weapons.
