While interviewing his network's assistant political editor Norman Smith out on the streets of Bradford, England, a random local woman popped into Brown's shot to give a thumbs up to the proceedings.

As he discussed Jeremy Corbyn's Labour manifesto on the BBC News channel, a female passer-by said "absolutely fantastic!"

Instead, being the distinguished gentleman that he is, Brown placed his hand on her chest, cupping her right breast, and physically moved her out of the way.

Ben Brown has said it was "completely unintentional". It is highly unlikely of the person who is moving another person from the frame do it by touching the breast.

Mr Brown apologised for the interruption at the end of the interview but seemed unaware that he'd touched the woman's breast.

The video quickly went viral on the social media with people questioning the intent of the journalist. Brown then joined the BBC in 1988 and worked in foreign affairs, covering major events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall and the first Gulf War. Brown later tweeted that fondling the woman was "completely unintentional. just tried to minimise disruption but v tricky live on air".
